Experiencing the rule of law in action is central to building students understanding of difficult legal concepts. In utilising our resource teachers can use experiential learning to reinforce fundamental principles such as the presumption of innocence, judicial independence and a fair trial.
Our new Court Role Play allows teachers to introduce their students to the criminal trial process, court personnel and their roles and also provides an activity that can be adapted for students from Years 9-12. Developed by Her Honour Magistrate Jacqueline Milledge of the Local Court of NSW – the resource has been adapted by the Institute’s educators to be suitable for students from any jurisdiction in Australia.
